An Art Deco Fete at Roppongi Hills
May 21, 2015
La Soiree Art Deco was held in the grand ballroom of the Grand Hyatt Tokyo at Roppongi Hills.
There was a band playing jazz, a dance performance and some very impressive pole dancers, who were accompanied by a DJ.
The headlining performance of the night, and the one that got the attention of everyone in the room, was by Miyavi. His performance got the crowd excited, and by the last song, nearly everyone in the room was dancing to the infectious beats.
As I have mentioned on this blog many times before, one of the perks to living in a MORI LIVING property is that there are various special events arranged for residents throughout the year. Each of these is amazing in its own way, but recently I had the pleasure of attending an event that was much bigger and more extravagant than the rest.
La Soiree Art Deco was held in the grand ballroom of the Grand Hyatt Tokyo at Roppongi Hills. I didn't really know what to expect from the party, but before I even entered the venue it was clear that it was something special. Instead of the typical unattractive stamps, guests were given temporary metallic tattoos to prove that they had been through reception and to be able to come and go as they pleased.
Once inside, there were beautiful models dressed as 1920s flappers, clusters of big, white balloons decorating the space, a vintage Rolls Royce, casino tables, and much more. A raised stage and a huge disco ball occupied the center of the room, with two other stages on either side. At the far end was a buffet full of delicious food prepared by the hotel chefs.
When I arrived there was a band playing jazz, which was followed by a dance performance and some very impressive pole dancers, who were accompanied by a DJ. The headlining performance of the night, and the one that got the attention of everyone in the room, was by Miyavi. Sometimes called the "samurai guitarist," Miyavi has become well-known around the world both for his music and his acting, as he recently appeared in the Hollywood film "Unbroken," directed by Angelina Jolie.
Miyavi's performance was spellbinding and got the crowd excited. By the last song, nearly everyone in the room was dancing to the infectious beats.
La Soiree Art Deco was an extremely successful event, and MORI LIVING's biggest one to date. After experiencing the fun for myself, I can only hope it's not the last one of its kind!
