More Guide Introduces Some of Tokyo's Best Spots
April 19, 2017
More Guide is a very handy little guide book that includes some of the best shops, restaurants, landmarks and art spots in Omotesando and Harajuku. And best of all, it's free!

Anyone who lives in Tokyo knows what a fantastically fun city it is, and also how it can be a bit overwhelming at times. There are so many great places to go that sometimes it's difficult to choose. Luckily, I recently stumbled on a very handy little guide book that includes some of the best shops, restaurants, landmarks and art spots in Omotesando and Harajuku. And best of all, it's free!
The latest issue, Volume 3, of More Guide can be picked up from various locations around the Harajuku area, including Omotesando Hills, LaForet Harajuku, and Tokyu Plaza Omotesando Harajuku. After grabbing a copy, I decided to check out some of the recommended places.
I started at Omohara no Mori, which is one of my favorite places to relax outdoors in Tokyo with a good book or a cup of tea. Wi-Fi is also available! Located on the sixth floor roof garden at Tokyu Plaza Omotesando Harajuku, it has natural plants that change from season to season, plenty of comfortable seating, a view over Jingumae crossing, and an adjoining Starbucks for when you get hungry or thirsty. At Starbucks, you can enjoy a seasonal beverage and food menu available at selected shops. The roof garden changes from time to time, and now there is a book lending section where you can borrow some reading materials to keep yourself occupied!
After plenty of relaxing, I headed up Omotesando Dori to Omotesando Hills, where I made my way to the second basement floor in the WEST WING to PASS THE BATON OMOTESANDO, one of Tokyo's best second-hand consignment shops. Entering the store, you can see the space filled with original atmosphere and crammed with items from each region of the world. In addition to goods displayed by individuals, the shop also sells items that have been repurposed from companies' dead or slightly irregular stock, such as DEAN & DELUCA tote bags and RHODIA notebooks. The stock is constantly changing, so it's a place that's worth stopping into often!
More Guide - which, by the way, is small enough to fit into most handbags - has plenty of great information on other stores, restaurants, cafes, galleries and sights. I look forward to checking out others next time!
