Entrances and elevators are protected by identity verification systems. Additional security features include visitor screening at the front desk and security cameras located throughout the building that monitor the property around the clock.

Swaying caused by even the biggest quakes is reduced through the viscous dampers, friction wall dampers, and active mass dampers incorporated in the building. This design also mitigates sways caused by wind and other factors, ensuring comfort even in the upper floors.

Meanwhile, the pillars in the lower levels are made with steel-fiber reinforced concrete that greatly enhances their resistance to buckling during an earthquake.

Finally, elevators are designed to function even after a disaster, with numerous measures put in place to prevent a range of incidents, such as stopping between floors. This ensures that even residents who have trouble walking will be able to rapidly evacuate the building in an emergency.

Continuity is important following a disaster. A total of 250,000 emergency rations are stored across all Mori Building properties, but each apartment is also stocked with emergency supplies. These provide a robust emergency lifeline in case of disaster.

All 1,600 Mori Building employees belong to an emergency task force that in a disaster can be rapidly deployed for disaster-relief activities, even at night and on holidays. Twice every year, employees participate in a large-scale disaster drill so they can become even better equipped to protect the entire neighborhood covering Mori Building’s properties.
