Creating
a neighborhood
that functions
like a forest
At Mori Building, we believe not in simply planting forests in a city, but in ensuring a city functions as a forest—allowing for biodiversity, for example. Forest Tower is a symbol of our belief—a giant tree that represents the “Urban Forest” concept of Motoazabu Hills.

into the sky
Architect Shozo Uchii had a vision: a building composed of a diverse mix of elements—high and low levels, the natural and the artificial, innovation and tradition—just as a forest is an ecosystem composed of a diverse range of plant life. He hoped such a building would energize the city and make it more attractive—a sentiment that can be felt throughout Motoazabu Hills.

Uchii (1933 – 2002) graduated from Waseda University in 1958, after which he joined Kiyonori Kikutake’s architectural practice. In 1967, he established his own architectural firm. He began teaching in 1993 and served as a professor at Kyoto University, The University of Shiga Prefecture, and The University of Shiga Prefecture Graduate School. Notable works include Sakuradai Court Village, Tokyo YMCA Nobeyama Youth Center, Fukiage Omiya Palace, and Setagaya Art Museum.
An urban hill beneath a natural sky.

I proposed a top-heavy design to make full use of the one untouched expanse of nature remaining in Tokyo—the sky. The view, the sunlight, the passage of air—all the best parts of the sky inform the tower’s design. I also added green elements to the roofs and balconies and converted the area that spreads out from the tower into an artificial hill, choices that I hoped would reduce the heat island effect in Tokyo.
Interiors
Homes that connect
directly to the scenery
All apartments—from 1 bedrooms to 4 bedrooms—have been designed to provide enough space for you to lounge about to your heart’s content. Windows are generously placed to ensure every room looks out over the surrounding scenery. Some apartments feature interiors by Conran and Partners, who also designed the Sky Lounge inside the property.
