- Earthquake Protection and Safety
Our buildings are designed to provide uninterrupted electricity, gas, water, and IT support even in major class-seven earthquakes. We use the latest technology to ensure building safety, minimizing shaking and damage due to earthquakes or high winds. To prepare for natural disasters, our buildings are equipped with their own wells and power generators.
A combination of two types of seismic isolators, lead plug laminated rubber bearings and high-strength laminated rubber bearings, enables structures to resist the tensile force of an earthquake, reduce vibration to one-half to one-fourth, and prevent damage to structural members.

Seismic damping walls have a highly flexible, viscous core injected into a steel plate box structure. When the independent steel plates within it move, the core provides resistance, while the oil damper absorbs the energy of seismic waves, to reduce vibration. These walls are effective against wind-induced vibration as well, further enhancing building safety and comfort.

These columns are steel tubes with walls up to 36 mm thick filled with high-strength concrete (48 to 60 N/mm²). The steel tubes girdle the concrete inside, preventing cracking and falling, so that the columns maintain their strength.

The emergency electric generator stands by to produce electric power if a disaster leads to a power outage. It can supply enough electric power to operate water pumps, elevators, emergency lighting, and emergency electrical outlets, so that the minimum necessary equipment can continue to operate in the buildings.
The storehouse holds drinking water, food, and other supplies for residents' use in an emergency.
If a disaster interrupts the water supply, a well on the site will provide water for drinking and firefighting.
All Mori Building employees undergo two sets of earthquake response training, to provide support to our residents and others in the neighborhood in the event of a disaster. The initial training covers the period from the earthquake until public services begin to function, while the second training covers the use of our emergency wells, emergency food preparation, and other assistance.
