The spread foundation of ARK Hills Sengokuyama Residence is built directly into solid ground called the Tokyo Layer. Two of the latest technologies in vibration-control engineering have been incorporated, combining viscous damping walls and brake dampers.
The structural damper is effective against wind-induced vibrations, seismic tremors of small to large-scaled earthquakes and long period ground motion harmful to high-rise buildings.

In this full-featured security system, the auto-lock system at the entrance requires a non touch key. People entering the building are also checked in at the front reception desk. The entranceway is monitored by surveillance cameras 24 hours a day.
What kind of design should we draw for the city skyline? How will the design contribute to the beauty and harmony of the city?
At ARK Hills Sengokuyama Residence, talented minds from around the world assembled to create a new Tokyo landmark through their designs.
(Exterior Design) Cesar Pelli
Born in Argentina in 1926, Cesar Pelli designed UN City in Vienna and the U.S. Embassy in Japan, among other projects; in 1972, he became Dean of the Yale University School of Architecture and founded Cesar Pelli and Associates. In 1995 the American Institute of Architects (AIA) awarded him the 1995 Gold Medal, which recognizes a lifetime of distinguished achievement. Pelli is known for his designs of high-rise buildings, including the New Terminal of Washington National Airport, the NTT Shinjuku Headquarters, and Petronas Towers in Malaysia.
"The main image was that of a single flower blooming atop verdant hills. I envisioned the unique culture which would bloom from the residence in my architectural design. The site is near Roppongi, an area with an international ambience but also a residential area. So I designed a smooth curve at the upper layers which tapered off as it neared the apex, intending for a gentle expression in harmony with the existing townscape."
(Lighting Design) Satoshi Uchihara
Uchihara is a lighting designer who has successively produced popular spots such as Omotesando Hills and Haneda Airport International Terminal. Not only involved in urbal architectural lighting, he is also a lighting producer for historical monuments such as Kinkaku-Ji and Byodoin, and is involved with "revitalization by light" projects for regional towns. His lighting style which can touch and light up the hearts of people is highly acclaimed worldwide.
"The lighting design concept of 'city panorama' is to be in harmony with the inherited historical culture of the surrounding environment. The corona also represents the network connecting the city with the people who live here, and the lighting theme aims to contribute an elegant brand to scenery in the area. By complementing the gentle curves of the architecture, the lighting enhances the beauty of the surfaces at night. Combined with a first-class site on the plateau and the historical dignity of the surroundings, the lighting design ensures that the building will become a new landmark in Tokyo."
(Public Space Design) Kanji Ueki
CEO, Cassapo & Associates. Recent projects include the development and expansion of Apple Computer Retail Stores across the USA (2001-2003) and the collaborative work with Yoshio Taniguchi for The Museum of Modern Art.
"For this latest Mori Building Co., Ltd. residence, we aimed to create a spatial design comparable to a museum of modern art. The exhibition of true art in public space allows familiarity with art to grow in everyday life, which could expand to shared interests and enjoyment among residents. We have strived to create a space with a cultured quality such as this. We hope this residence will help to further develop the cultural environment, and introduce spatial design which can enhance the cultural value of the city.
(Private Space Design) G2 Design Studio
"Our concept is 'Standard Housing for Tokyo".
We endeavored to keep a basic design which can flexibly meet the demands of ever-changing trends, lifestyles and times.
Applying simple but choice interior designs to fit such a lifestyle enables the residence to be a comforting area for whoever should live there.
Our design is focused on daily life, aiming for 'the best in ordinary'".
