My favorite illumination has always been at Roppongi Hills?there is just something very magical about walking down Keyakizaka under the twinkling lights that cover the trees, with Tokyo Tower visible below.

I always love this time of year in Tokyo, when the city is covered in tiny lights for the holiday season. My favorite illumination has always been at Roppongi Hills--there is just something very magical about walking down Keyakizaka under the twinkling lights that cover the trees, with Tokyo Tower visible below. One thing I noticed that is new to this year's Roppongi Hills illumination is an area of paper-covered lights that resemble candles, making for a very peaceful-looking scene.
But aside from Roppongi Hills, there are plenty of other illuminations around Tokyo as well. The zelkova trees on Omotesando will be covered in lights from December, but if the weather is cold or rainy, head inside Omotesando Hills to see a giant Christmas tree and countless ornaments covered in over 250,000 sparkling Swarovski crystals. There is even an indoor ice skating rink! Continue down the hill to LaForet Harajuku to see another impressive Christmas tree, a collaboration with the band Dreams Come True.
ARK Hills has an illumination based on the theme of a Scandinavian forest, and those who venture out to Odaiba will be treated with a truly special illumination that can be viewed even during daytime hours. In addition to colorful lights and a dazzling Christmas tree, Venus Fort is also hosting its very popular snowfall event again this year. At certain times during the day, pure white snow will drift down upon visitors from amongst the lights above--a truly unique experience.
Most of these events only go through December 25, so be sure not to miss out on the chance to decide which illumination is your favorite!
